Inside Woodcroft

Woodcroft Care Home is a two-storey residential Victorian villa nestled within the coastal town of Old Colwyn (Welsh - Hen Golwyn) in North Wales.

Opposite Woodcroft lies Eirias Park, a 50-acre public park once described as "The park by the sea", accommodating a sports complex, including the Eirias Stadium and Colwyn Leisure Centre and swimming pool.

Our Facilities

Our facilities offer a quality of life that preserves dignity and privacy, whilst encouraging as much independence and freedom of choice as possible.

Individual Bedrooms

Woodcroft offers facilities to care for up to 22 residents within individual, single-occupancy bedrooms. All rooms have washing facilities with 17 rooms offering en-suite toilet and washing facilities. Each room comes fully-furnished, however we welcome residents who wish to furnish their room with their own possessions.

Communal Living Space

Woodcroft has two communal lounges and a communal dining room where residents can join in activities.

Safe & Accessible Garden

The garden encircles the rear of the property, and is secured with three locked gates. The space features raised beds to encourage hands-on activities, together with a water feature, observation benches, and hanging baskets. It is also paved or decked to ensure a stable walking surface for residents.

The garden connects to the communal dining room, allowing residents who prefer to stay inside to still feel part of any communal outdoor activities.

Specialist Equipment

The home supplies specialist equipment such as Profiling Beds, Hoists, Transfer Assists with Slings and also Slide Sheets.

We also offer two specialist therapeutic bathrooms containing a Gainsborough Gentona Baths. This height-adjustable bath features a powered transfer seat that lowers to a convenient height for wheelchair or hoist access, to gently move a resident in and out of the bath.

All staff are trained in moving and handling people and in the use of all the equipment.

Daily Activities

Activities are offered on a daily basis and vary in structure. They include trips out to local public houses, tea dances, shopping, games, exercise sessions, clothing parties and general hobbies. A mini bus is provided by the Home to ensure that outings can be arranged quickly and easily.

When a new resident comes into Woodcroft, a detailed social history is taken to ensure that past interests and hobbies are identified. This way we can look to incorporate an individual’s interests into our activities programme.

A Choice of Foods & Individualised Options

All our food is freshly cooked on the premises, and sourced from local brands - including the award-winning, family-run Poynton’s Butchers in Old Colwyn, and Tatws Trading in Llandudno for our fresh fruit and veg. A choice of menu is available and individual likes and dislikes are accommodated. Special dietary requirements are also catered for.

All our staff, including carers, have Level 2-3 certifications in Food Hygiene & Safety, and Woodcroft as a whole proudly holds a Level 5 Food Hygiene rating under the Food Standards Agency.

Visits & Calls with
Family or Friends

Visitors are very welcome at the home at any time that is convenient for the Resident. Principal carers and/or family and friends may telephone us at any time, day or night, to enquire about their well-being. A telephone is available for the use of the residents and they are able to conduct their calls in the privacy of their own rooms. Many residents choose to have a private line installed into their room.
